Ia Orana!
(Tahitian for greetings)

In 2001, after 10 years of painting and exhibiting throughout the United States and Europe, Alain Despert decided to once again paint in the peace and tranquility of the island which first inspired his creative talent. His studio was located in Bora Bora - “the most beautiful island in the world” - in French Polynesia about 150 miles northwest of Tahiti.

With a desire to be close to his family and a longing for the Old European Life, Alain closed his Bora Bora Studio in 2011 to move to the Mediterranean (see Malta Studio). His Bora Bora Period will always remain close to his heart and an integral part of his artist history. Afterall, it from Bora Bora where his career was launched.
